About
This is a joke, carefully typeset
The Stingy Men's Association is a comedy website. Everything on it — the notices, the Council, the Constitution, the register, the seal — is invented.
The site is written and designed to look like the publication of a real institution, because that is where the comedy is. A joke about a man refusing to fund a birthday weekend is a tweet. The same joke set as a gazette notice, with a reference number, a signature block and a rubber stamp reading Approved With Reluctance, is funnier — the gap between the gravity of the form and the pettiness of the content is the whole act.
That approach carries one obligation, which this site takes seriously: the reader must never be in any doubt. Every page carries the label in the masthead, above the content rather than below it. Every notice ends with the words THIS IS SATIRE. The footer says it in full sentences at readable size, and the page's structured data declares the genre so that a notice screenshotted and shared out of context still points back to a page that says plainly what it is.
The satire is aimed at a stereotype and at the price of everything — not at any real person. The offices are fictional and the office-holders are fictional characters. Nothing here describes the actual conduct, finances or opinions of any real individual, and there are no photographs of anyone.
Nothing on this site is advice of any kind. Anyone who cancels a birthday on the strength of a notice published here does so entirely on their own authority, and the Association wishes them well.
Questions
- Is the Association real?
- No. The Stingy Men's Association is satire. It has no members, no register, no Registrar, and no wallets under protection. Every notice on this site is a joke written in the style of an official announcement, which is the entire point of it.
- Are the office-holders real people?
- The offices are fictional and so are the officers. Nothing on this site describes the actual conduct, finances or opinions of any real person, and no photographs of any real person appear anywhere on it.
- How do I join?
- You do not. There is nothing to join. If you have read Notice 001/2026 and felt personally addressed, the Association considers that sufficient.
- Can I apply for an exemption?
- The Registrar has granted three exemptions since 2019 and is understood to regret two. The form is not available, because printing costs money.
- Why is the Minister of Finance post vacant?
- Three candidates were interviewed in 2019. All three asked about the salary.
- Who pays for this website?
- The Minister of Information, who has raised the matter at four consecutive Council sessions and been referred each time to Article VII.
